Hotshot Gosforth Cadet

A cadet from 1114 (Gosforth) Squadron has proven his marksmanship skills by achieving the Cadet 100 award for the best 100 shooters across the cadet forces!

Cadet Flight Sergeant Joshua Vince-Urwin was one of the lucky few cadets selected to represent Durham/Northumberland Wing at the 2016 Inter-Service Cadet Rifle Meeting.

The Inter-Service Cadet Rifle Meeting is an annual shooting competition between the three cadet forces. Only the very best shots in the Air Cadet Organisation get to attend to prove themselves on the range. The best 100 cadets are awarded the prestigious Cadet 100 Award.

This year, Flight Sergeant Vince-Urwin was one of those skilled shooters to score in the top 100 of all the cadets present, gaining him the Cadet 100 Award!

Officer Commanding 1114 Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Aaron O'Roarty, congratulated Joshua commenting, "Flight Sergeant Vince-Urwin has gone from strength to strength, refining his shooting skills. His passion and dedication in this area have not gone unnoticed. This is a fantastic award and it is the first Cadet 100 on Gosforth Squadron during my time in command. A special thank you also has to go to CI Hutchinson, our squadron shooting officer, for coaching Joshua and all of our cadets to such a high level."

1114 (Gosforth) Squadron aims to provide young people from the local area with a wide range of opportunities and experiences such as flying, gliding, adventure training, and target shooting which lead them towards gaining life long skills and recognised awards such as BTEC qualifications and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
